The story

How this started

You know how it goes. You get in at nine, or eight, or whenever the bus decides. There is an email that was sent at 5:58 on Friday and it is waiting for you with a "gentle reminder" in the subject line. There is a meeting that could have been a message. There is a manager who says "let’s circle back" and never does.

And then there is the other side of the same day. The interview you prepared for at midnight. The side business you run from your phone on the lunch break. The offer letter that finally lands. The first day somewhere new. The quiet decision to stop asking permission.

We looked for the music for all of that and could not find it. Work playlists were lo-fi loops with an anime girl studying. The office comedy lived in short skits with no songs. Nobody was singing about the actual Tuesday.

So Grindline Audio started writing them. The songs come from Lagos and the diaspora, with the choirs, the horns and the rhythm we grew up with, but the situations are universal. A Monday inbox is a Monday inbox in Houston, Peckham, Nairobi, Manila and Berlin. If you have ever clocked in, waited on HR, or packed orders at your kitchen table after your shift, these songs are about you.

Everything is free to listen to and free to share. Play it on the commute, send it to the colleague who was in that meeting, and come back next week. There is always another story.

Music for the whole grind.

Who it is for

01

The 9-to-5

The analyst in Lagos, the nurse in Peckham, the engineer in Houston. Anyone who clocks in and wants music that knows what happened in between.

02

The job seeker

Application number 87, the third-round interview, the inbox you keep refreshing. Songs for the wait and for the offer.

03

The side hustler

The shop that opens after work, the client call on the lunch break, the Saturday that is also a workday.

04

The business owner

Payroll on the 25th, the pitch, the slow month, the first hire. The grind without a manager to blame.

05

Far from home

Grinding in a new country while holding on to who you are. Sung in that voice, with those harmonies, for anyone who has started over.
